Chicago, 1865. It is the age of the pioneer, where one can seek out a new life in the virgin acres of the USA. Anyone looking to make themselves a fresh home, away from the trappings of the Old World, can hire a wagon master to guide them safely across the great plains. One such man was Will LaChance, who a year earlier lead a caravan of Mennonites to the West Coast. However, when they insisted upon a route chosen by the Lord, they rode straight through bandit territory. Every man, woman and child was butchered, and LaChance is now a pariah, drowning his guilt in whisky...
